Humane Society of Northeast Texas Receives $29,000 Grant
For Free Spay/Neuter Program
The Humane Society of Northeast Texas is offering a free spay/neuter program for East Texas pet owners, funded by a $29,000 grant from The Department of State Health Services. Special surgery certificates allowing publicly-owned cats and dogs to be spayed or neutered at no charge by a participating veterinarian are available to pet owners earning $20,000 a year or less and certificates are limited to 10 per household.
Thanks to this grant and nine area veterinary clinics participating in the program, low-income pet owners can now take care of their pets. Our goal is to end the tragic pet overpopulation problem that exists in our area.
Pet owners interested in obtaining a certificate for free spay/neuter surgery should contact The Humane Society of Northeast Texas at (903) 297-2170 or visit 303 Enterprise Street in Longview. The shelter is open Monday through Saturday 11:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Proof of income is required to receive a certificate.
