City of Kilgore Mayor Joe T. Parker, left, hands a $25,000 check to HSNTx Board Member Donny McCoy and Executive Director Roxanne Hutson at the October 23rd city council meeting. The donation is designated for the Humane Society's new animal shelter in Longview.

Architects and project managers are currently designing the new shelter and estimate $6 million will be needed for construction costs. HSNTx plans to begin a formal capital campaign in 2008.

The new facility will be located on H.G. Mosley near Cotton Street on 4+ acres of land which was purchased in 2005.
