Noretta Frick joined our Humane Society family in the spring of 2004 as an adoption counselor. She had many years of office and customer service experience in other industries, but her compassion for animals and "gift of gab" made her a perfect fit for this position in her new animal welfare profession. Her friendly smile and warm hello were the first to welcome customers (both 2-legged and 4-legged kinds) as they entered the shelter, and she took great pride in always keeping the front office neat and organized.

She was soon promoted to the position of Office Manager where she provided valuable support and assistance to the Executive Director in addition to her other duties. Noretta's strong work ethic, dedication, and professionalism was a wonderful example for those that had the pleasure to work with her. She never lost her enthusiasm for helping animals.

When not working, Noretta surrounded herself with her beloved husband, children, precious grandchildren, and the furry friends she adopted over the years. She enjoyed needlework and arts and crafts, and created several items to spruce up the shelter that will be treasured momentos of her special touch.

On November 5, 2008, our office manager and friend lost her battle with cancer. A special memorial fund has been established by the HSNTX board of directors in Noretta's honor and will be used to create a warm, inviting entrance into the shelter to encourage more people to visit.
