We have a new face at the shelter, Rhonda Spitler.      We don't have an Executive Director at this time, so Rhonda will be serving as Interim Director until the Executive Director position is filled.   The new Director of Operations will be starting her work with the HSNTX in June, so she and Rhonda will team up along with all the great shelter staff members already in place to make our exciting planned path forward a reality.

Rhonda comes to us with a huge passion for animals and a wealth of energy for doing anything and everything she can to further the mission and vision of the HSNTX.    We know this because Rhonda has served on the Board of Directors (all volunteer) for seven years, and has done more work during that time than many of us have done at our paying jobs!   When the Executive Director position became open, Rhonda didn't hesitate for a moment (well, okay, maybe just a moment or two) to step off of the Board and fill in as Interim Director to keep the transition with shelter operation and volunteer activities as seamless as possible until a new Executive Director is put in place. 

As if Rhonda didn't have enough on her hands with the HSNTX, she is also a mom to 6-year old Sean who you might have seen holding the Chocolate Lab mix puppy Oliver at the end of the HSNTX commercial that currently runs on KLTV.   Rhonda's husband John, also an animal advocate, completes the human part of the family.  Rhonda's pet family consists of three cats, Lilly, Abby, and NBC (we'll let Rhonda tell you what the initials stand for!), and a very energetic Golden Retriever mix named Playful, adopted from the HSNTX a year ago.  

Rhonda will be at Harley's on Loop 281 with the Waggin Wheels adoption trailer on Saturday along with some wonderful volunteers, so come out and meet her if you haven't already!
